Totally enjoyed my entree. Hot, fresh and tasty! #goodstuff. Staff was friendly and attentive. Was a surprise for a chain type place. Will return.
Did Sunday lunch at 1:30 Nov 12. Physical location is nice with huge old Live Oak in parking lot. Interior is also warm and cheery. Unfortunately service was absent minded to neglectful, and food was absolutely unforgettable. We started with crab cake appetizers. These were deep fried hush puppies that a crab might have glanced at, but they were NOT crab cakes. Long wait for our entries, even though restaurant was half empty. Bored wait-person did not even enquirer why she cleared appetizer tray that was mostly untouched. Entries finally came and fries were cold to go with blah fish tacos and blah "Brunch" omelette. Bored waitperson was busy in bar making drinks for other tables, and we had a long wait for the bill. Another staff member ultimately finally took the credit card. With 2 iced teas, 1 beer, and 15% tip, we had a $50 lunch with blah to crappy food, and poor to indifferent service. Do yourself a favor and give this location a pass.
Went to Witzells in Fairhope Friday night, we have been going there for years,.... SO DISAPPOINTED, obviously under new management, service was HORRIBLE HORRIBLE, had to ask for bread, our salad was served after asking again for it in the middle of our meal, and we were NEVER served bread. The server obviously had a rotten attitude about everything and it showed, when we finally begged for our ticket and was leaving told the hostess we like to speak to the manager, he was no where to be found, we figured he was hiding in the bathroom because the table behind us also had poor service. So very sad, it was a family tradition, but no more.
I arrived about 8:00 was seated. Being a out-of-town the menu was explained and drink spesials. Received my salad quick and so after my friend J O platter and bloody Mary WOW THE BEST SEA FOOD I HAVE EVER HAD. My favorite was the fried Osters and shrimp. The fresh breaded onion rings we're really good to. My waitress Rachel made sure I was taken care of. To me a truck driver that travels the USA is great to be served by a true professional that cares about me the customer. Highly recommend this place!!!
I was disappointed with the hostess as we ordered our lunch items and then after it was too late we heard her telling other customers what the specials of the day were. Looks like we missed out on fresh caught Red Snapper. Wintzell's does have happy hour for oysters and also for drinks such as Bloody Marys so before you go give them a call to see what the and when the specials are taking place.
